Questions for discussion:

Stereotypes and cultural differences

Tonight we will primarily be looking at stereotypes and cultural differences between Russian and British culture, however, if our discussion naturally flows onto the topic of other cultures, that’s fine too. There are many myths and stereotypes surrounding both Russian and British culture. Some of them may be true, some may be verging on the edge of truth or partly true, some may be ridiculous, and some may even cause offence.

Questions for discussion:

  1. What do you think of when you hear the word, ‘years’?
  2. If you could go back to any time period or year, either before you were alive, or during your life so far, which year or time period would you choose?
  3. What is possible to achieve or get done in a year?
  4. What have you achieved during the last year that you're proud of?
  5. What are three things which you would like to achieve or do during the next year?

Questions for discussion:

  1. What is the internet?
  2. Can you remember the first time you used the internet?
  3. Could you live without the internet?
  4. How do you think the internet has changed the world?
  5. If you use the internet, what do you use it for?

People travel for many different reasons. For holidays, for business, to move permanently, to gain further insight into the world, for self development, and then some people are travellers (more impolitely known as, gypsies). Their lives are constantly moving as they travel in a mobile home from place to place. Tonight we will discuss many aspects of travelling.

Questions for discussion:

  1. Do you go travelling, if so, for which purposes?
  2. Do you enjoy travelling, or is it just a necessity, e.g for work?

I'm English, Orthodox Christian who attends St Philip's church in Prospekt Mira, 20 years old, lively and charismatic! Also, I am easy-going, thoughtful and responsible. I've lived in Moscow since April 2013 and have taught myself Russian without any lessons, however I won't speak any Russian with you during Club meetings and even don't ask me to do so! I love working with children, art, singing, learning Russian, travelling and making new friends!

Why do we love travelling

Reading Anyone can travel. And it’s our (okay biased) opinion that everyone SHOULD travel. Travel has a way of speaking to you, opening your eyes and changing you from the inside out. You can use travel to relax, to see the world, to connect with others who share your passion or to just have adventure, all the while creating a pastiche of experiences and memories to cherish as you grow older. You might be traveling to visit family or friends, for work, because you’re relocating, volunteering, sight-seeing or to simply relax on a beach somewhere to get away from it all. These things are specific to you and your own personal vision for your life.
